Introduction If you're tired of manually updating prices in QuarkXPress documents then you've chosen the right solution for alleviating this time consuming and frequently inaccurate process. PriceIt is a powerful tool that sits on top of QuarkXPress giving users the ability to update prices in their publication from an external data source. That external data source can be on a Mac, a PC, a mainframe, in fact almost any platform, wherever your data exists, PriceIt can use it. How does PriceIt work? Much like a child matches up different shaped wooden blocks with the corresponding holes in a children's toy, or a Police computer matches a suspect's finger prints to the criminal records, PriceIt takes a unique piece of information, such as a product's stock code, and matches it to its price in your data source. So if an ash office desk has a product code of 123-456A in your document and in your data source, PriceIt searches the data source for this product code and examines the price or prices associated with it. If the prices on the QuarkXPress page differ from those in the data source, PriceIt automatically updates your Quark document with the latest pricing in the data source effectively making sure the two are exactly the same. XTensions? PriceIt is commonly known as being an XTension (don't worry, the spelling is correct). QuarkXTensions technology lets you add software modules to expand the features of QuarkXPress for specialised publishing tasks.
